Teachable & Doable Social Media Networking
Posted By Robin Lynn Brooks on April 6, 2010
Online social media adds a dynamic element into the art of staying current with those we’re connected with today
Social Media is teachable and doable by anyone willing to take a moment to learn how to navigate use the social media platforms available online today. Millions have already discovered how to leverage and enjoy new online magic in new ways to reach out, share, search, and connect. YouTube, FaceBook, Twitter, Skype, and Phone Apps are a basic few helping us all go wild!
.
I have heard it said eight out of ten use Social Media to market their business
The world trend is stepping it up a notch as Social Media and Internet Network Marketing continues to rapidly grow. It is being used successfully as an important online business marketing method today. The advantages are extreme effectiveness in customer retention, business associates are better connected, and warm market relationships open up generating greater sales leads. I have watched joint ventures happen through social media connections.
More successful entrepreneurs are using social media avenues to effectively create and develop their brand by building relationships and sharing popular valuable information everyday.
However, huge disasters waiting to happen have been noticed as many new users start jumping in.
Some evidently think it a wise investment to go into My Space, Facebook, Twitter, Linkdin and everywhere they can think of, all the while tweeting and blowing their horn endlessly with…. well basically share with the world just how well they can spam the BEJEEBERS out of everybody!
Yes, it will get them noticed. Yes, it will give them a reputation but no, not substantial results marketing their brand.
Trust me, it’s the conversation which is most relevant when using Social Media platforms. Randomly sticking your personal links and pages all over the place is actually uninviting.
.
A few little things to consider developing first
There is one little thing in these communities I have observed, better known as Social Proof. And well, it doesn’t usually happen overnight. It does take a bit of time and effort to achieve recognition developed through Social Media relationships.
Some essential elements to master are build relationships in a respectful fashion, become socially active, share good content and acknowledge the same. These are important to develop trust in the community.
Want to stand out and become a leader? Consider your willingness to commit to learning, giving, and bringing that same value into the lives of others.
In fact if you were to simply deliver a ton of value and bring it front stage and center, it would be considered an excellent maneuver and likely carry you right into one very prime position to win friends and influence some people.
.
How every leader is a follower
The best leaders and mentors we know share a strong passion for following other leaders and mentors. They study the character of successful, motivational, and disciplined people who inspire. A key point to observe is how they allow others to see them following their own mentors.
Personal growth and development is about you and I becoming the best we can be in whatever we choose.
Why wouldn’t we want to continue to develop ourselves and be inspired – right? And how truly powerful, if we learned to surround ourselves with others who care in the same way? You know… that’s doable, too.
First, take action everyday. Concentrate on the most important thing in becoming genuinely successful. Take action on you. Search your soul and build from the inside. Build that value and watch it become a part of you.
.
Enjoy Your Day!
Robin

Hey Robin, This is a most excellent post. Love the part about every leader being a follower, it’s so true. If you aren’t learning from somebody else, you can never achieve the ranks of LEADER.
Thanks for the excellent information!
You have seen it too haven’t you? The ones who just stand up and shout, “Hey! I’m the best!” and then you look around and try to see where this guy is coming from… and it’s coming from him edifying himself! Doesn’t work for me unless served along side a nice slice of Humble Pie.

Robin,
Great Post, Love the part where you talk about how people are jumping in and start the SPAM, SPAM, SPAM. They will develop a reputation for sure. Keep up the great work.
Bill
Maybe it works by luck but in the long run people will disregard the spammer, you know it.

Love it Robin,
You have brought up the most important key to leadership. Always be learning from the ones who go before you and have the qualities you wish to emulate.
Awesome my friend

Thanks Val I appreciate you…
Robin – you are so right that good leaders still learn and follow other leaders and mentors. I don’t think you can ever stop learning from others no matter how long you have been doing this:)

And that is likely what made them a good leader – right? I have learned great lessons from children. And something else, observations even bad mentoring or coaching can teach us something – how not too….
You said Robin, we all must continue to learn and grow regardless of you lot in life! DR

Yes sir!
Robin your so cool. Who else could use words like “BEJEEBERS ” and make it sound so normal. I appreciate your post very much. The part about getting a Mentor is so important.
Bejeebers! I know it is practically cussing but I really didn’t know how else to say it! Any suggestions anyone?
Robin:
As always, you hit the nail on the head…be coachable…have a mentor…work on yourself…and mentor others…full circle!
Thanks so much for your excellent thoughts!
Linda.

I am a particular fan of working on oneself… oh and to be teachable is invaluable – don’t you think?
Robin you are awesome – you my dear have come full circle – you are “social proof” of the wonderful way caring and sharing works. You started out with no blog and now look at you, you have been mentored by some of the best in the industry, you have learned, created and shared value and are now mentoring others. Hugs to you girlfriend!
I love helping others to a fault sometimes. And yes this blogging thing is all about sharing, I love it, too!
Hi Robin,
I love the following words “To stand out in becoming a leader you must be willing to commit to learning, giving and bringing that same value into the lives of others”.
This is exactly where it is at, and what all successful leaders do.

I believe if we are not committed ourselves, then how can we be an example or mentor anyone fairly. Thanks Deirdre
Hey Robin! I see you’re doing what you do best… giving GREAT value to us in the community.
I consider myself a leader for following YOU. Thanks for the leadership, and the really well-developed treatment of how to take advantage of Social Media to brand yourself in the most beneficial way.

You know what YOUR doing! I have seen you in action sir and appreciate that we are continuing to cross paths.
Robyn,
“Hey Robyn, I now we just met online but, you wanna get married?”
Sounds crazy but this is what many of the new people to social media marketing are doing by not learning how to interact first.
We all continue to learn and grow. The professional never stops learning and they continue to study other great leaders and get mentoring from them.
Thanks for reminding us what is at the heart of social media.

So true Don! I am amazed everyday what I see happening and ever grateful for the great community we have behind us. And that means you, too.
Social media is indeed doable only if you’re teachable ~ really that’s the secrete to success in anything! And so true that every leader is also a follower ~ that’s because they ~ we
~ understand that secret! Always be teachable, always be learning, growing and expanding.
Thanks for all the leadership you bring to our community ~ it is greatly appreciated, Robin!

My favorite part of this Robin is ‘Every Leader is a Follower”.
It is all about personal development and LEARNING, LEARNING, LEARNING! We must focus on ourselves first and invest the time to make ourselves valuable. Then it’s just letting the value flow out and forming relationships. Just as we must first have ‘social proof’ in our non-virtual world, we must have it in the virtual world as well. Thanks Robin! Great insight here!

I find it so amazing when I encounter people who aren’t using Twitter or Facebook at all. It’s as if they’re stuck in the stone age. But how fast I forget that only a year ago, I wasn’t using them either! Social media has a way of growing on you and if you do it well, life can be enriched through new friendships and new business relationships!

I agree with you, there are a bunch of spammers out there. I feel lucky to connect with you and the tribe of people that come from the heart and create value for others. Thank you for another great post Robin!
Wonderful article Robin and so well written! Thank you for going over these key points about social media networking. Also, your honesty about being willing to learn, grow and give. And yes, I totally agree with you that every great leader is a great follower of other great leaders.
